The rear end is centrally located between the rear wheels. On the back of the unit, count the number of bolts holding the inspection plate cover to the rear end housing. You need the 4x4 rear end. It is still 2" narrower than the stock axle but it will fit as is. It will just tuck the tires in two inches closer.Plates are cut from 5/8ths steel plate, U-bolts are 5/8ths grade 8, and Bolts are grade 8 with washers. I'm going to be talking out the 10 bolt rear end in my 70 chevelle and putting in a 12 bolt rear end. Does anyone know if that would require a different length drive line?
